The family of J.J. Poole mourns during a vigil for the 20-year-old Henrico County resident who was shot and killed in the playground area of the Henrico Arms apartments April 22.

Photographer's Note: This vigil was particularly tough to photograph because the people gathered were very emotional. In the midst of 250-300 crying people, I just dropped to my knees to stay out of sight and concentrated on documenting the family.
