Virginia Repertory Theatre’s Barksdale Season at Hanover Tavern launches with a zany twist on the classic Sherlock Holmes story “The Hound of the Baskervilles.” In the style of the Marx Brothers or Monty Python, three actors take on more than 20 roles including Holmes, Dr. Watson and themselves while they hilariously retell the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome killer dog. “Hound of the Baskervilles” opens at Hanover Tavern on Friday, Sept. 14, and runs through Nov. 4. $10-$40. va-rep.org.
