Home Front: Enviro-Furniture Line Launches in Richmond

Anthony Brozna has already had one launch party in New York and sold one of his handmade beds to "Sex and the City" star Kim Cattrall. So it was high time he kicked off his environmentally friendly furniture brand, EcoLine, here in Richmond — which he did June 22 at his shop in Manchester.

The line "plays off of what I've been doing, which is environmentally friendly furniture," Brozna says, "but until this point, it's been more limited edition or commission." He says it offers the "same workmanship but midrange pricing, competitive with Ethan Allen or maybe the higher-end Pottery Barn."

The project dovetails tidily with his other business, ECO Supply Center, which sells salvaged and renewable building products such as bamboo plywood.

Brozna talks about the environmental benefits of his products, but is impressed with its qualities as building materials, too. "Bamboo is 3 percent harder than hard maple," he says, "so talk about lasting." HS
