Architects are putting the fab back in prefab, as a new traveling exhibit at the Virginia Center for Architecture demonstrates. "Some Assembly Required: Contemporary Prefabricated Houses" showcases unique homes that challenge popular conceptions. You may get some ideas for your own dream home from the models, diagrams, scale models and interactive media included in this exhibit. Free. Through Sept. 30. 644-3041.

Even the greenest thumb sometimes stumbles with orchids, those lovely and persnickety plants. Art Chadwick hosts "The Orchid Doctor" workshop at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.
