Learn more about what defines Richmond architecture at "Architectural Genealogy: Where Does Richmond's DNA Come From?" Jan. 13: Local decorator and author Sunny Goode will be at the Short Pump Barnes & Noble to sign copies of her latest book, "Paint Can! Techniques, Patterns and Projects for Bringing Color into Every Room." The creator of her own line of paint, Sunny's Goodtime Paints, Goode explains how to create bright yet subtle effects with techniques such as stenciling and color washing. Jan. 19: The Visual Arts Center of Richmond pioneers Art Exchange, a high-end swap meet of fine art. Art collectors are invited to donate pieces, and a professional jury will select the best to be sold at the opening reception for AX '07, a two-week exhibition at the Page Bond Gallery, 1625 W. Main St. Works that aren't sold will remain available for purchase at the gallery through Feb. 2. All proceeds go toward the renovation of the Visual Arts Center. (804) 353-0094. HS
