You might think you're in a little boutique in New York's East Village when you visit the consignment shop Clementine in Carytown. Packed tight and lined with racks of trendy used clothing, purses, shoes, headbands and jewelry, Clementine's crowded buzz creates the pleasant illusion that everything you find is valuable. From Old Navy to Dolce & Gabbana, in sizes 0 to 12 (with the occasional 14), shoppers of the right gender (female) and size (small) are likely to find something more distinctive and less expensive than they would at the mall. The glitziest and cheapest find at Clementine is the costume jewelry that owner Lesley Glotzl brings home from trade shows in New York. Sparkly, over-the-top, decadent and different, the baubles and rings are a great find from $4 to $8. Also, don't miss the eclectic handmade jewelry of Richmonder Karie Walker.
