Chill out this winter with a heartwarming book about ice: "Cooling the South: The Block Ice Era: 1875-1975" (Wackophoto, $35) by block ice descendant Elli Morris. Travel with Morris along a "trail of abandoned ice plants," reading firsthand accounts of the block-ice era by ice plant owners and workers.
