Heart of Winter Fest at Strange Matter

Bringing blackness and doom to Richmond for a third time are Bastard Sapling members Greg Ernst and Drew Goldy via their Heart of Winter Fest. Showcasing Richmond's thriving metal scene, the two-day festival will feature 16 bands with styles including black metal, to thrash and doom. Local favorites include Inter Arma, Parasytic, Lord by Fire, Bastard Sapling and Druglord, as well as New York's Black Anvil (pictured). The Heart of Winter Fest begins at Strange Matter on Friday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. $10.
