With the recent release of “The Harrow and the Harvest” — her first album in eight years – singer and songwriter Gillian Welch presents her dark style, an aesthetic that combines elements of Appalachian music, bluegrass and Americana, and leaves folk-music lovers clamoring for more. Having four other critically acclaimed albums under her belt, Welch will have no problem keeping her fans happy when she plays “Groovin’ in the Garden” with guitarist David Rawlings at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on Friday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m. $25-$40. 866-707-2289.
