George Winston at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen

Thanks to countless yoga classes and massage-therapy clinics, George Winston probably could spend his remaining years quietly living off the royalties of just a few albums' worth of work. An acclaimed solo pianist, Winston was one of the earliest and most successful pioneers of new age music, classical-style compositions that even today seek to establish a reserved, pastoral sensation in listeners. While most recognized for his seasonal-themed catalog and playing Vince Guaraldi's “Peanuts” cartoon music, Winston plays selections from his latest album, “Gulf Coast Blues and Impressions: A Hurricane Relief Benefit,” at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen on Saturday, March 7, at 7 p.m. $40. 2880 Mountain Road. 261-6150.
