Gay Club Slated for Julian's? 

Dennis and Agnes Hickman, who own Julian's along with their daughter, Cathy Hughes, and son, Robert, closed the location on West Broad Street in April to focus on their restaurant farther west at 11129 Three Chopt Road in Henrico County. But the Broad Street address had been a staple of Richmond's past, having been in business there since 1946.

The original Julian's on West Broad Street filed for bankruptcy protection in December 2004 in response to inflated debts resulting from a city meals-tax dispute, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported April 18. At the time of the article, the family acknowledged that a contract to buy the building was on the table.

A Hickman family representative declines to be named or elaborate on the matter, but acknowledges that the contract still is in bankruptcy court awaiting approval. S
