Athens, Ga., has a long history of fostering the development of all kinds of great bands and music-makers, from REM and the B-52s, to Neutral Milk Hotel and Danger Mouse. Looking to add themselves to that storied history are the members of Futurebirds. Incorporating a mix of reverb-laden psych pop, and alt-country vocal harmonies and pedal steel, the Futurebirds easily nestle themselves on the shelf next to Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses. Touring behind the debut album “Hampton's Lullaby,” Futurebirds are scheduled to perform at the Camel on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 8 p.m. $$8-$10.
