With a crazy mix of piano, guitar, howling vocals and rock ’n’ roll theatrics, Foxy Shazam quickly has made a name for itself. Critics have compared the group to Queen, the Darkness and My Chemical Romance. Its self-titled album in 2010 was well-received, breaking onto the Billboard charts and leading to spots on the Vans Warped Tour and Lollapalooza. The group’s fourth album, “The Church of Rock and Roll,” was released earlier this year. And already critics have called it a hit of 2012. Foxy Shazam performs at the Canal Club on Thursday, July 5, at 7:30 p.m. $12-$15. 643-2582.
