Los Angeles’ indie-pop darling Foster the People has been riding the waves of success since its hit single, “Pumped Up Kicks,” became widely played earlier this year. Because of that single and the group’s psychedelic and dance-oriented songs (think MGMT and Black Kids but on a more relaxed scale), the album “Torches” has been hailed by everyone from Pitchfork to NPR. Foster the People performs at the National on Friday, Sept. 23, at 9 p.m. $20-$23. 612-1900.
