Feast RVA at Quirk Gallery

Friday, Oct. 14

Richmond is becoming known for its creative residents. The problem is, most local creative work has limited funding to help get new ideas off the ground. Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics, known as Feast, began in Brooklyn as a way for the public to invest in the work of local creative people. The Richmond version, Feast RVA, intends to join the ranks of people rethinking how art and creative work can be financed. Attendees donate money for dinner and drinks and receive ballots with a list of proposals by local artists. Short presentations are given for each idea, and at the end of the night, ballots are cast. The artist with the most votes receives $500 from a portion of the door money. Feast RVA is open to any proposal, as long as it is original, local and feasible. The night will feature food provided by Cellar Door and Sticky To-Go-Go, and live music by the Bird and Her Consort, featuring Antonia Begonia and Jonathan Vassar. Feast RVA takes place at Quirk Gallery on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. $25. feastrva.com.
