In a span of four years Jimi Hendrix forever changed the way an electric guitar could speak within the parameters of rock 'n' roll, using the kind of amp experimentation that could produce huge blasts of distortion and bellowing feedback. Regarded as the greatest guitarist, the musician's legacy is one of flash brilliance and what-if potential. Honoring his contribution to popular music, the Landmark Theater presents Experience Hendrix, a tribute tour featuring performances by Billy Cox of Band of Gypsies, Chris Layton of Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble, and Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, as well as Steve Vai, Susan Tedeschi, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eric Johnson, Living Colour, Ernie Isley, the Slide Brothers and many others. Experience Hendrix begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12. $40-$75.— Mike Hilleary
