Model trains are a vital part of the American psyche. There isn’t a child of the 20th century who wasn’t entranced by their miniaturized functionality. A living, breathing slice of vintage Americana will be on display Friday through Sunday, Nov. 27-29, during the 38th annual Model Railroad Show at the Science Museum of Virginia. Put together by the Richmond model railroad club River City 3 Railers, the extensive exhibition will feature train displays from across the state. There will be cooking demonstrations, workshops and teddy bear train rides to ring in the official start of holiday season. If you can’t make it this weekend, River City 3 Railers will have a display at the Great Big Greenhouse in the Huguenot Village Shopping Center through December. Call 864-1400 or visit smv.org.
