Chances are that if people have done something for 47 years, it is probably worth your time. The 47th annual Richmond Oktoberfest takes place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17, at the Richmond Raceway Complex. This festive two-day celebration will feature an abundance of German ferments, foods and entertainments for the whole family to enjoy. Hans Stienen, a long-time member of the Deutscher Sport Club, will serve as master of ceremonies and the event includes performances by Acca Shrine Sauerkraut Band, Gesangverein Virginia, the Original Elbe Musikanten, SGTEV Hirschjäger Bavarian Dancers and the Continentals from Washington. Adding to the merriment will be a large selection of vendors, children’s activities and showcases of indigenous German arts and culture. Call 342-0310 or visit richmondoktoberfestinc.com.
