Modern technology has brought us many things: instant communication, access to information and limitless diversion. Unfortunately, it also bombards us with severe bummers and limits our attention spans in a major way.

But one thing remains unchanged: our need to laugh together. Thankfully, we have just the man to deliver the modern ha-ha goods. His name is Eddie Izzard, and boy, is he funny. The literate surrealist from England has an uncanny ability to find humor in anything that crosses his fertile and inquisitive mind. His stature has grown stateside with numerous film roles through the years. But first and foremost, his legend builds on the strength of his one-of-a-kind, stand-up performances.

Wickedly devious and intensely loveable, Eddie Izzard unleashes his heady silliness when his Force Majeure world tour lands at the Dominion Arts Center on Monday, July 18. Doors open at 7 p.m. $48-$58. richmondcenterstage.com.
