It’s been said that dogs are man’s best friends. While I agree with that sentiment, I submit that beer runs a close second as humanity’s closest and dearest companion. The meeting of two of mankind’s most favored buddies will be celebrated at Blue Bee Cider on Saturday, Aug. 15. The dog- and family-friendly event features craft beer, culinary offerings by Camden’s Dogtown Market, all-natural dog treats from Best Bully Sticks and live music by Richmond genre-mashers Moossa. The best part of the daylong festivities is that rescue dogs from the Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation and James River Greyhounds will be on hand for a meet-and-greet with potential owners. The Richmond Society for the Prevention of cruelty to Animals will have an information booth and will give each new dog owner a box of goodies to get the life-enriching relationship off on the right paw. The free outdoor celebration begins at noon. bluebeecider.com.
