Encouragement for Authors

Darren Morris's article, "Prolific Obsessions", hits home with us local authors. In this world of big-time publishers, it has become nearly impossible to be discovered if you are a first-time author. If you don't land representation by the big publishers, then you're forced to rely heavily on self-promotion or if you have the means, your very deep pockets to fund a publicist. Both of these options are difficult if you're trying to focus on writing or are a starving-artist type. Mark Covington's success, while small in light of The New York Times best-sellers' list, is huge to us fellow authors who can't land the big publishers. Way to go, Mark!
