Eggstravaganza at LaDiffAcrence

Saturday, March 20.

The older you get, the less Easter makes sense in terms of how the resurrection of Jesus coincides with an anthropomorphic rabbit hiding dyed chicken eggs and giving mounds of hollowed-out chocolate en masse to a population of children already highly addicted to sugary substances. As it turns out, ol' cottontail has less to do with Christian holiness than he does with the fertility of the spring season (there's a reason we use the phrase “multiply like rabbits”). However you look at the holiday that rings winter's farewell toll, LaDiffAcrence will play host to Eggstravaganza, a black-tie fundraising gala featuring silent and live auctions, music, hors d'oeuvres and an adult Easter egg hunt for real prizes. The event starts at 7 p.m. March 20, with proceeds benefiting Easter Seals Virginia and its efforts to help people with disabilities. $125. 642-5074.
