Re: “One Love: LGBT Families

I'm one of the featured people in this exhibit . As a Transgender woman in Richmond and one who nearly received a Lobotomy a mere block away from where this show will be housed is indeed historical . It is my hope that the ENTIRE City of Richmond come out to see just how much Gay and Transgender people have had to over come since the early 1950's .

Re: “VIDEO: Women in Dave Brat’s "Grill" About Town Hall Meeting

Ever since Mr. Brat has been elected, he has YET to respond to my questions concerning Civil Rights for transgender Virginian's . I'll be damned if I would ever vote for this weasel again !

Re: “The Old Village Cafe Building Is Up for Sale

Brandon , now that I see you , I remember you ! You were always great to me and I may have spoken to you when I was contracted by Mike Fleck to build a replacement waitress station for the place . Mel Yeamans was my friend and landlord . Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of your life with us !

Re: “Opinion: Will 2016 Be the Turning Point for Richmond's Confederate Monuments?

OK , I'm ready for my words to be twisted out of context , but here goes . FIRST, I'm a cousin of Jeff Davis . I also do work as an independent contractor to the Virginia and Texas Historical societies . In addition , I'm a Libertarian .

I refuse to be a VICTIM as too many in this city whine and moan about the Civil war over 100 years later . I know MANY African Americans who fought side by side on BOTH sides . Now I KNOW that LIBERALS will scream I have no idea what I'm talking about including the author of this story .

I'm sorry, these Monuments are an integral part of the City of Richmond Virginia's history and should be left alone . To the Left who wants "Revisionist" history , take a section of Richmond and designate it PC and only allow NON threatening monuments , housing and businesses to be placed there .

Re: “Born Again

Nova when she did this story gave me the "Fire " I needed to make the HARD decision to come out myself from sitting on the fence . I was three quarters out back in 1993 when we met . Today , Nova and I remain close via Face Book . I applaud her for being the "Lightening rod " here in Richmond Virginia . In addition , I called mr. Dovi when the story first hit and thanked him for having the courage for taking this story on . Our story needed to be broken . together , this unlikely pair made Richmond history ! E Shaver

Re: “City Has $200,000 for Riverfront Art, Wants Proposals

Sadly , this welcomes the wanna be graffiti artists armed with spray cans creating kitschy crap on a wall, just what Richmond needs to look even more urban ...............

Re: “Beyond the Rainbow

Thank you for sharing that photograph of our T D O R service . I've been to every service that has been a part of Transgender Richmond since it's inception . One day , I have a dream that I will awaken and go to a trans Day of empowerment service , a day which will celebrate Richmond trans People who have excelled and created a better place for all to enjoy .
