With a string of successful albums and an endless supply of energy, the Drive-By Truckers have become one of the most popular alt-country rock bands of the last decade. Led by frontman Patterson Hood, the band unapologetically celebrates its Southern pride. See the band’s double-disc concept album, “The Southern Rock Opera,” which explored the historical significance of ’70s Southern rock, specifically Lynyrd Skynyrd. The album received a four-star rating from Rolling Stone and brought the group into the spotlight, catching the ears of fans on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line. Drive-By Truckers perform at the National on Friday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 27, at 8 p.m. $20-$25. thenationalva.com.
