The Down Home Family Reunion, put on by the Elegba Folklore Society, celebrates African-American folk life with a wide variety of world music and dance, a heritage marketplace, special children’s events, interactive site demonstrations, and stick-to-your-ribs comfort food. Elegba’s festival is designed to show aspects of West African cultural traditions that have been absorbed by those living in the American South and used in today’s African-American culture. The Down Home Family Reunion takes place at Abner Clay Park on Aug. 20-21. Free. 644-3900.
