If you ever wondered what David Oistrakh jamming with the Swedish House Mafia would sound like, wonder no more. The marriage of classical and electronica would sound like DJ Manifesto. The Los Angeles-based DJ, producer and violinist has created a modern Bollywood-esque hybrid of high- and lowbrow forms. His assertive dance-floor alchemy is imbued with a thumbing melodic sophistication rooted in carnal rhythmic pursuits. It’s that rare dance music that works as well inside the club as it does outside of it. Smart, daring and full of surprises, DJ Manifesto frees the mind so the ass can follow Friday, Dec. 26, at the Canal Club. Tre Justice and Korin Complex warm up the dance floor before the one-man turbine of texture takes the stage. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $10. thecanalclub.com.
