Singer and songwriter Derek Webb started his music career as a member of the contemporary Christian band Caedmon’s Call in the early ’90s before going solo in 2003. Critics hailed his first solo album, “She Must and Shall Go Free,” as a refreshing and unapologetic take on Christian music. A slew of albums and fans followed. Webb proceeded to push the boundaries of his music to bring issues of politics, social injustice and war to light, most evident on his 2009 controversial album, “Stockholm Syndrome.” Webb’s newest album, “Ctrl,” was released earlier this year. Derek Webb performs at Northminster Church on Friday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. $15-$18. northminsterchurch.com.
