While his pixie-haired younger sister, Jessica Lea, seems to be the one getting all the "best of what's next" press for her sophomore record, "Tell Me," and its country-tinged collection of ache-in-the-dark tunes (produced by the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach), Nashville-based singer and songwriter David Mayfield hardly lacks praise. His rootsy blend of alt-country is influenced by an upbringing filled with bluegrass, folk, gospel and rockabilly. Recently releasing the self-titled debut of his new band, the David Mayfield Parade, featuring contributions by the Avett Brothers and sister Lea, Mayfield is scheduled to perform at the Camel on May 10 at 8 p.m. $10.
