Unlike many of the contestants on “American Idol,” season five finalist and Virginia native Chris Daughtry has made a real name for himself in the music industry since his departure. Most notably, he was offered the opportunity to become the new lead singer for alternative rock band Fuel, which he declined. His debut album, “Daughtry” was the fastest-selling rock debut in Soundscan history, and its follow-up, “Leave This Town,” marked his band’s second consecutive No. 1 album. Numerous top-selling hits, four Grammy nominations and a trail of sold-out concerts have thrust Daughtry into the spotlight, giving the former “Idol” lasting fame. His latest album, “Break the Spell,” shows there’s no letting up. Daughtry performs at the Landmark Theater on Wednesday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. $30-$50. 646-0546.
