Dar Williams at Capital Ale House

With a heavy reliance on plaintive vocals and an acoustic guitar, New England's Dar Williams is a genuine alumna of the modern-day coffeehouse circuit. With Williams' performance style bringing to mind Joan Baez and Lucinda Williams, she's exhibited an evident introspection to her unobtrusive folk arrangements throughout her career while maintaining the kind of wit-driven lyricism that can be equally sarcastic and soulful. On the road supporting her latest album, “Promised Land,” Williams is scheduled to perform at Capital Ale House with Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. $25-$30. 794-6700. — Mike Hilleary
