Born: St. Paul, Minn., 1953

Education: B.A., University of Minnesota, 1977; M.F.A., University of Arizona, 1980

Where you can find his work: In one of his six published collections of poetry including “Icehouse Lights” (Yale University Press, 1982), which won the Yale Series of Younger Poets prize and “Spirit Cabinet” (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2002), his most recent collection. He’s also the author of a collection of essays on contemporary poetry called “Strange Good Fortune” (University of Arkansas Press, 2001).
