Cosmopolitan features story of Amy Bradley 

A Cautionary Tale

Richmonders who pick up the July issue of Cosmopolitan magazine may recognize a familiar face on page 176 — Amy Bradley, the young Chesterfield County woman who disappeared last year while on a Caribbean cruise with her family.

The subject of Style Weekly's April 27 cover story, Bradley is mentioned prominently in the Cosmo story "Will You Be Safe On Your Summer Vacation?"

Featuring an interview with a woman who claims she was raped by a crew member of a luxury cruise ship while on vacation, the article recounts other similar stories, such as that of a girl whose parents claim she was raped by a ship's bartender on her 16th birthday.

It closes with the story of Bradley, who disappeared from her family's cabin early one morning in March 1998. A witness claims to have seen her taken off the ship against her will later, according to a lawsuit filed by her parents.

Peppered with criticisms of cruise-line security, the story also has an ominous quote from a former security chief for Carnival Cruise Lines: "The cruise line is slow to respond [to crimes], and more to the point, they want to protect their interest and not the interest of the
