Corrupt Officials Are No Surprise

Charles Dickens stated that the conditions of “ignorance and want” will destroy a society (“Impolitically Connected,” Back Page, Jan. 13). We have had both in equal supply for the last 30 years with the public education system and the greed of Wall Street. The corrupt Washington establishment, from which we were promised relief along with a message of hope and change, is the predictable result of a dumbed-down population and the avarice of government-sanctioned crooks. The rock of political Ponzi schemes has been lifted and underneath we have discovered the slime and stench emanating from both parties. Yes, we do need a change.
