Correction and Clarification

In the theater section of the Midseason Arts Issue (Cover Story, Jan. 30), we incorrectly stated that Baltimore is about as far from Washington, D.C., as Richmond.

In calculating population-to-theater size, writer Mary Burruss notes: "If the metropolitan area of Baltimore (2.6 million) is to be considered with the surrounding area of Richmond (1.2 million), there are 76 theater companies compared with Richmond's 22. That is 3.5 (rounded up) times the number of theaters for 2.2 (also rounded up) times the population."
