After spending time in bands such as Thievery Corporation and See-I, multi-instrumentalist Jeff Franca adopted the moniker of Congo Sanchez and started putting together a melting pot of sounds. His new sound is psychedelic funk that’s impossible not to dance to. The Washington-based artist blends Cuban music, Afrobeat, lounge and ambient sounds into his album “Vol. 1.” Prepare to get down when Congo Sanchez performs with the Polychrons, DJ Phil Dice and Groove Status at Canal Club on Friday, Nov. 2, at 9 p.m. $5-$10. thecanalclub.com.
