Believe it or not, the Commercial Taphouse has been around for two decades. Old enough for the army but still too young to drink, the beloved Fan pub celebrates its 20 years of beer-loving existence with a weeklong celebration that includes keg tappings, vintage bottles and live music. And if you go to any of the events, be sure to give owner James Talley a big sloppy kiss and inappropriate grope for his years of selfless service running a bar and restaurant in a city that nickels and dimes, legislates and harasses most alcohol-serving establishments into despair. And if he complains, and he will, you’ll have a viable excuse: You’re drunk. For the schedule of events of this celebratory week, call 359-6544 or join the event for Richmond’s first and longest-running taphouse on Facebook.
