Christabel & the Jons at Stronghill Dining Company

Christa DeCicco has a slow-burning quality to her vocal delivery. There's something really laid-back and (dare it be said?) sexy in the way she and her band are able to turn the twang of Tennessee roots music on its head and fill it with some cool speakeasy blues, jazz and swing. With such a throwback approach, even going so far as to dress in vintage attire on stage, you'd half expect the band to sell old 78 vinyls instead of CDs at the merch table. But on that count, they're 20th-century kids. On the road supporting their latest album “Custom Made for You,” Christabel & the Jons play Stronghill Dining Company on Monday, March 30, at 10:30 p.m. Free. 359-0202. — Mike Hilleary
