Chez Foushee has become a lunchtime must; wine tasting at 1223 Belle B

Tastemakers

has become a lunchtime must for many working in the Richmond area. Lucky for us, they reopened on Sept. 6 after renovations.

Chez Foushee's owner Andrew Hardie always has a seasonal trick up his sleeve. This fall he's not only revised the menu, but the entire restaurant, as well. The updated look is definitely an improvement. You'll hardly recognize the place. It's much brighter and more open.

As far as lunch at Chez Foushee, you should always expect an interesting menu of Mediterranean-style food like the butternut squash bisque and roasted chicken with couscous. New pastry chef Jess Rowe is busy preparing desserts like the Viennese chocolate torte with rum-soaked cherries.

Though it seems as if they slave over the food, it usually arrives in time for you to relax and get back to work before anyone's the wiser. And you should expect the complete new menu by Oct. 1. Looks like fall can also be a season of rebirth. Lunch 11:30-2 p.m. Monday through Friday. On the corner of Foushee and Grace streets.

You can also celebrate the season by attending the next wine tasting at 1223 Belle B, the swank dinner site in North Side. The sponsor is Clicquot, a Reims, France-based winery best known for its champagnes. But they also own wineries at points around the world and will be featured exclusively during this five-course tasting and dinner. It's scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. this Monday, Sept. 17. This event is supposed to sell out, so reserve a table soon. 261-4500. $65. 1223 Bellevue Ave.
