According to Plato, whoever created beer was a wise man. I tend to agree: That special someone who discovered that the sweetening of starch and fermentation of the resulting sugar would create a beverage of lasting appeal in the early Neolithic Era or 9,500 B.C. was no dummy. The appeal only keeps growing. Case in point: The Diamond is host to the Carytown RVA Craft Beer Festival on Saturday, June 7, because Carytown was deemed too small to hold the event. After but one year, the mile of style, as it’s known, just isn’t big enough to hold all our beer lovers. There will be more than 40 handcrafted brews to sample, entertainment to take in and food to eat. But if you go, be sure not to live it up so much that you can never live it down. The suds begin to flow at noon. Tickets are $10-$50.
