Hey Cartoonists!! Looking for a Job???

Then show us your stuff!

Do YOU have something humorous or perceptive to say about Richmond – the ins, the outs, the people, the places, the things, the history, the current events, the music scene, the arts crowd, the politics or what have you?

Would YOU like to have your creative art work printed in Style Weekly, not just once but twice a month for the rest of the calendar year?

Would YOU even like to be paid for it (not a heckuva lot, but something)??

If so, we would like YOU to send us your best Richmond-related comic strip by Monday, July 11 and enter Style Weekly’s “Comic Strip Sweepstakes.”

The winning entry (along with selected finer runners up) will be printed in the July 20 issue of Style – our second-ever “Comic Strip Issue.” The winning cartoonist will also have space reserved in Style every other week for the remainder of 2011.

1. Participating entries must be submitted to Style Weekly, 1313 E. Main Street, Richmond, Va. 23219 by 5 p.m. on July 11, 2011. If you are emailing your entry, please send to ed.harrington@styleweekly.com in .jpeg format at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

2. Entries must touch upon subjects pertaining to -- or that reference -- the greater Richmond area.

3. Entries may be in color or black & white. Single panel or multi panel. Photo collages, fumetti, computer art and other kinds of comic forms other than pen and ink are also eligible.

4. Entries must conform to, or be able to reduce to, specified sizes (see below).

5. While we don't want to censor anyone, it should be noted that Style Weekly is distributed to a wide array of Central Virginia readers. Therefore, it's reasonable for ask participating artists to curb excessive profanity and/or extreme violence and sex.

6. Employees of Style Weekly and Landmark Communications are not eligible to enter the Comic Strip contest, nor are family members of employees.

7. Have fun out there.
