The weekend after recording her debut album, “Still Life,” last year, Laura Bridget Regan sold everything she owned and moved to Brooklyn. As a former student at Berkeley School of Music, the raven-haired songwriter used her talent for composing piano-based pop to assemble Bridget and the Squares. They brood with some spunk, generating admirable comparisons to artists such as Regina Spektor and Florence and the Machine with a mix of melancholy waltzes and infectious melodies. In the midst of their first official tour, Bridget and the Squares are scheduled to perform at the Canal Club on Sunday, Jan. 16, at 5:30 p.m. $10.
