Boneanchor at the Triple

Frontmen have always held an iconic fascination for our culture. Morrissey, Jarvis Cocker and Freddie Mercury, among zillions of others, are all cult figures in their respective genres, whether because of their voices or their chemistry with the band or the zillions of groupies. Boneanchor's Wrenn Mangum, long a wildman of Richmond stages, channels both Elvis Presley and at times Joy Division's Ian Curtis. Formerly known as Frog Legs, the band has redefined its alternative-folk into a more straightforward rock sound that can be heard at the Triple on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 10 p.m. 359-7777. — Alexander Chang
