Comprised of University of Virginia alums Cliff Usher and Lindsay Pitts, alternative psych-folk Birdlips takes serious cues from contemporaries such as Beach House and Cotton Jones, mixing intimate, haze-laden atmosphere with warm, reverbed harmonies and rhythms. Repeatedly praised by the local Charlottesville press, Birdlips is currently on the road promoting its debut full-length “Cardboard Wings.” As it tours the duo is also engaging in a private project, entitled “Drift,” where Usher and Pitts travel around the country recording EPs on a digital 8-track recorder all from different locations and releasing them as they go. Birdlips is scheduled to perform at the Camel on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.
