Pop music has used all kinds of names to reference largeness: Big Star, Big Boi and of course the Notorious B.I.G. Establishing its own niche in oversized monikers is the Boulder, Colo.-based instrumental duo Big Gigantic. With saxophonist and producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken, this musical duo mixes DJ and live playing to create some truly unique hip-hop-inspired electronica. With the kind of beats that easily could be sampled by the best rappers in the business, Big Gigantic is scheduled to bring a little variety to the typical blues and singer-songwriter style of the Capital Ale House on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 9 p.m. $10. 780-2537. — Mike Hilleary
