Second Place: Uber
Third Place: Veterans Cab
In an era of nationally branded ride-sharing companies seemingly taking over the industry, My RVA Taxi shakes up the category with a strong win. The company’s online video introduction calls it the country’s “first industry-wide regional taxicab booking service — and it’s right here in Richmond.” Users download an app and request a ride. The system searches all of the taxi companies in its network and gets the car to you. The pitch is simple and local with 24-hour availability. Uber also has plenty of name recognition and users in Richmond, and Veterans Cab has been getting people where they need to be since 1947.
