Second Place: Friday Cheers
Third Place: Groovin' in the Garden
With Short Pump's reputation for heinous traffic, you'd better believe that people are ready to ditch their vehicles and drink beer in an empty field. Innsbrook After Hours has the area covered musically with the likes of the Wailers, Everclear, and coming in the fall, country star Dierks Bentley. Friday Cheers is the affordable, early-summer festival that fills Brown's Island with riverside revelers for an eclectic cast of musical artists. This summer that includes Neko Case, the Funky Meters and St. Paul and the Broken Bones. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden's Groovin' in the Garden series unfortunately has announced a two-year hiatus so garden employees can focus on a new Cherry Tree Walk and improvements to the Children's Garden. For now, hold onto those golden memories of musical sunsets, wine and roses.
