Best Local Authors Who Actually Live Here

Critics' Pick

Richmond claims dozens of authors who actually live here and aren’t even dead. You might, for example, look up from your laptop at the local coffee shop and see fiction specialists David Robbins, Susann Cokal, Tom De Haven or Michele Young-Stone pounding out their next novels. Memoirists Eliezer Sobel and Anne Soffee are busy translating their lives for the page while young adult authors Gigi Amateau, Meg Medina and Erica Orloff continue to educate and entertain the under-18 set. Nonfiction authors abound too — see Dean King, Caroline Kettlewell and Phaedra Hise.

(Sorry, no information is currently available for other years in this same award category.)
