Beautiful Stranger

When you're as beautiful at Ana Vidovic, it's difficult to be sure you're getting recognized for your talent. But somehow this 23-year-old Croatian guitarist is being taken seriously by the classical guitar establishment. She's adorned the covers of Acoustic Guitar and Guitare Classique in recent months and received adulatory reviews from The Washington Post, American Record Guide and the Austin Guitar Society. She's released six CDs already and has toured the world. Her playing is unusually engaging and has the potential to broaden the audience for the classical guitar. Yes, Vidovic is easy on the ears, too. She performs at VCU's Singleton Center for the Performing Arts Friday, Jan. 25, at 8 p.m. $10. 828-6776.
