Bear Hands at the Canal Club

Considering that the members of Bear Hands were classmates of MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser at Wesleyan University — even opening for the psychedelic-pop unit — it's little surprise that the Brooklyn-based four-piece dabbles in the same waters of lushly stomping psych rock. With frontman Dylan Nau offering up a wiry take on Isaac Brock's ramshackle yowl, Bear Hands keep the dance floor filled with a hazy, melodic groove. Having spent their days touring with the likes of Vampire Weekend, We Were Promised Jetpacks and Passion Pit in support of their debut album, "Burning Bush Supper Club," Bear Hands are scheduled to perform at the Canal Club on Tuesday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m. $12-$14. 643-2582.
