Back in the Clinker

Tony Woodroffe had turned his life around -- Style Weekly featured him in a sidebar to a cover story on housing and gentrification, "There Goes the 'Hood," April 11.

That was before Woodroffe, 28, faced the wrath of Sheriff C.T. Woody last week. Woodroffe, being held on charges of grand larceny and trespassing, was arrested while inside Richmond City Jail on charges of possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute.

In Style a year ago, Woodroffe, working as a construction foreman in Church Hill, recounted how he had given up a life of drug dealing for an honest living. The city's residential renaissance had given him new hope and a job.

"I make more working every day than the average drug dealer flipping a pack," he said in April. "I'm clean now and I don't plan on going back to it. I changed with everything else."
